This project comprised the hollowing out and reconstruction of a three storey Mews building in Knightsbridge with the addition of a fourth floor to provide a kitchen/diner. The area was minimal, a total of 710ft² after the fourth floor had been added.
A two bedroom, two bathroom dwelling was created, set around the staircase which took the form of an ellipse within a rectangle with each flight rotated through 120º in order to maintain headroom through the building. By virtue of this it was possible to accommodate the shower of the second bathroom over the top of flight 1 and behind and underneath flight 2 prior to the commencement of flight 3.
